Yesterday, two individuals were arrested following a reported robbery in Eugene, with the incident unfolding at an apartment complex on Willamette Street. Eugene Police were dispatched after receiving a call at approximately 1:41 AM, where they learned a man had encountered a woman in the parking structure of 1180 Willamette Street. They provided her with money, according to a report from the Eugene Police Department. A dispute ensued, and the woman, later identified as Merceydes Lynn Weavill, 22, fled with the cash.
The situation escalated when Weavill, in an attempt to make her escape, called for assistance from Daylon Michael Clarke, 24, who arrived and brandished a firearm. The ensuing confrontation caused the victim to draw his weapon, which led Clarke to flee the scene quickly. Eugene Police's response was rapid, with crisis negotiators safely managing to bring both suspects into custody by 3:33 AM.
A subsequent search of the apartment led to the recovery of a firearm, which was part of the evidence that bolstered the charges against Clarke and Weavill. Clarke faces several serious charges, including Robbery in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Weavill has been charged with Robbery in the First Degree and Prostitution.
