A conflagration tore through a Green Tree auto repair shop and adjacent apartments on Tuesday, resulting in injuries and significant property loss. The fire, which erupted along Noblestown Road, required the response of dozens of firefighters across multiple departments to manage the inferno, according to a report by WPXI.

Joe Marnik, owner of Joe’s Auto Classics, was present when the fire ignited and recounted the dramatic explosion, "There was an explosion shortly before that that just rocked the whole building. My shop and his shop filled with black smoke. You couldn’t see," he told WPXI. Marnik attempted to tackle the blaze with a fire extinguisher before evacuating the smoke-enveloped premises. Meanwhile, the building's owner, April Delaney, whose family has owned the structure since 1980, lamented the devastation to the multiple businesses and five apartments the building housed, "Two apartments are lost. Two tenants are without a place to live," she conveyed to WPXI.

Tragically, two individuals sustained injuries amidst the chaos, with one tenant experiencing chest pain and another person from the auto body shop being taken to the hospital, as detailed by WTAE. Albert Lamb, a tenant who lived above the auto body shop, claimed to have lost all his possessions in the blaze. "I just ran down the hill, I see the flames coming out of the garage," Lamb told TRIBLIVE.

The Allegheny County fire marshal is leading the investigation into the origins of the fire, which is believed to have started in a vehicle in the mechanic shop. The emergency departments were alerted just after 4:30 p.m., and by approximately 6:00 p.m., the fire was extinguished, leaving behind a visage of scorched vehicles and a damaged infrastructure. Marnik, reflecting on the harrowing experience and the potential loss of life that was narrowly averted, expressed a somber gratitude, "We all had guardian angels. Yep, we all had guardian angels, today," he shared via WPXI, a sentiment shadowed by Delaney's heartache over the damage to her family's legacy. The fire highlights not only the volatility of such businesses but also the precariousness of the lives that interweave with them.
