Chaos briefly seized a Fairfield market parking lot yesterday when a man was reportedly waving a handgun, prompting a swift police response that involved aerial drone surveillance. At around 2:12 pm, Fairfield police officers converged on the 1900 block of North Texas Street, executing a meticulously planned operation to apprehend the individual without incident.
After receiving reports of an armed suspect in the vicinity, specialized units including Patrol, Traffic, and the Home Invasion Team, or HIT, coordinated to approach the scene with due caution. The suspect, 30-year-old Israel Sloan, was spotted outside La Favorita Market. The Fairfield Police Department stated on social media that their use of a drone provided an advantageous overhead perspective, while Officer Belyea and the dispatch team utilized CCTV to monitor every move of the suspect.
According to the Fairfield Police's post, Sloan now faces numerous charges as he was booked into the Solano County Jail on diverse weapons and drug violations. The police department commended the effectiveness and safety of the arrest, echoing a sentiment of job well done for all parties involved – from the technology operators to the field officers who secured the scene.
