A car accident in Volusia County claimed the life of one person and left another injured last night, according to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision occurred on State Road 11 north of State Road 40 in Pierson around 7:55 p.m., WESH has detailed.
The incident involved two vehicles: a southbound 2020 Nissan Kicks, which reportedly veered suddenly into the opposite lane, and a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado towing a trailer traveling northbound. The two vehicles collided head-on. The Highway Patrol is still to fully determine why the driver of the Nissan veered, an action which set to motion the fatal events of the evening.
The devastating result was the Nissan's driver, an adult male, being pronounced dead at the crash site. WFTV reported this information, though his identity has not been confirmed publicly. On the other hand, the other driver, a 46-year-old man from Palm Coast, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
