A tragic incident on the Katy Freeway this morning resulted in the death of a motorcyclist and significant traffic disruptions. According to a statement obtained by KPRC 2, the crash occurred early morning and led to the closure of the exit ramp in east Harris County.
As conveyed by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the rider, while on SH-99, went over the ramp and was fatally wounded upon impact. Commuters on the west side are facing major delays due to the incident. The motorcycle crash took place around 4:40 a.m. on the eastbound ramp from Katy Freeway to Grand Parkway southbound. Found dead at the scene, the victim's identity has yet to be disclosed as the sheriff's office handles the active investigation, as noted by KHOU.
While the ramp remains closed, the service roads were opened to manage the flow of diverted traffic. To acquire a southern route toward Highway 99, drivers are advised to either make a U-turn past the ramp closure or exit beforehand and navigate via the service roads.
