A tragic incident unfolded near a METRO bus in NW Houston this week when a fight between a man and the bus driver ended in a deadly shooting off the vehicle. According to Click2Houston, an unidentified man who had allegedly attacked a bus driver was shot by an unidentified woman who officials say was "not involved in the initial altercation." The shooting occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. today, in the midst of what must have been an otherwise unremarkable morning commute.
Following the assault, which happened aboard Bus 2110 on the 5300 block of Antoine Drive, the aggressor left the bus. The woman, seemingly a separate factor from the aforementioned conflict, pursued the man and discharged her firearm, hitting him after both had exited the vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital, as reported by ABC13.
The bus driver sustained minor injuries from the attack and has been taken off shift for the rest of the day for recuperation. The circumstances that precipitated the initial assault are still under investigation by METRO PD.
Law enforcement is actively searching for the woman involved in the shooting. Despite the ongoing hunt for the shooter, METRO officials insist on the continued safety of their riders and employees. "METRO remains fully committed to the safety of our riders, employees, and the community we serve," METRO shared. "We take all incidents involving violence seriously and continue to work closely with law enforcement partners to ensure the well-being of everyone on and around our system," METRO officials shared in a press statement obtained by Click2Houston.
