The Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management has announced that the Flood Watch initially issued for the region has come to an end. Central Texas residents can now breathe a sigh of relief as the threat of overflowing banks and gushing streams abates. The announcement came through a brief, straightforward social media post which stated, "UPDATE: The Flood Watch has expired."
Leading up to this update, locals were on high alert due to warnings from the US National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio Texas of potential flooding, as the watch was extended through 10 p.m. with the prediction that rainfall could reach totals between 2 to 4 inches and an isolated 10 inches, the potential for deluge was palpable and the saturated ground from recent showers only heightened the risk, caution was largely advised.
Throughout the watch, the emergency management office and weather services underscored the importance of public safety with frequent reminders to the public. Online outlets and community platforms echoed the cautionary advice often shared in these scenarios: "Remember, if you encounter high water while driving, turn around, don't drown!" This message, conveyed through various channels, successfully urged drivers to err on the side of caution amid the unpredictable weather conditions.
Further updates and emergency alerts, should they be necessary in the future, will be promptly communicated through official channels including the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management Facebook page.
