A former Gaston County detention officer has found himself on the wrong side of the law after being charged with falsifying payroll records. QC News reports that the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI), arrested Ryan Lamar Poole, age 52, on allegations of him falsifying time records to receive payment for hours not worked.

The investigation began last summer and eventually led the case to be presented before a Gaston County grand jury this past Monday, culminating in a true bill of induction for Poole. As WCNC has detailed, Poole is accused to willfully have falsified these records, an act that led the grand jury to charge him with felony obtaining property by false pretense.

Following his arrest, Poole was swiftly released after posting a $10,000 bond. This development came shortly after NCSBI personnel served him with the order for his arrest. As per WCCB Charlotte, within less than 30 minutes post-booking, jail records indicate that Poole managed to post bond.

Despite these recent arrest activities, a trial date for Poole has yet to be set. Nonetheless, the Sheriff's office conveyed their commitment "to restoring the public trust in our justice system and will meet that objective where justice and the facts lead them," as claimed in a statement obtained by QC News.
