A former Voice of America employee, Seth Jason of Edgewater, Maryland, has been charged with making threats against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia announced an indictment that includes charges of threatening a federal official and making interstate threats to kidnap or injure.

Jason was arrested early on Thursday, and is scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge that afternoon. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, an indictment claims that between October 2023, and January 2025, he made threatening calls involving firearms against a congresswoman, her staff, and their families. The calls were reportedly made from Voice of America headquarters, using phone lines connected to studios and control rooms where Jason was employed. The U.S. Capitol Police led the investigation, with help from the State Department Office of Inspector General.

Jason is facing multiple federal charges, including threatening a federal official and their family, making interstate threats, and anonymous telecommunications harassment. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years for each threat charge, 5 years for the interstate threat, and 2 years for the harassment charge. The case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Travis Wolf and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan Horan, with help from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland and the Anne Arundel Police Department. Jason is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
