Four people were detained after a high-speed chase in northwest Las Vegas. The incident happened on Monday evening when a vehicle was seen driving erratically and at high speeds. Las Vegas police tried to stop the vehicle around 6:30 p.m. near South Maryland Parkway and Charleston Boulevard, as reported by FOX5 Vegas.
Despite the urgency, officers did not immediately begin a pursuit to avoid increasing the risk. Instead, an air unit was used to monitor the vehicle. A ground pursuit later started when the vehicle did not slow down, according to KTNV.
A police chase ended at the intersection of Farm and Cimarron roads, where four people got out of the vehicle and ran. Police set up a perimeter and detained all four. No injuries were reported. The intersection was closed in all directions during the investigation, causing traffic delays. Authorities have not shared the names of those detained or the reason for the chase.
