A Franklin hotel and its adjoining restaurant became the scene of a commotion early Saturday morning, following an outbreak of a fire in the Granite City Food & Brewery. Guests and staff at the Drury Plaza Hotel were promptly evacuated due to safety concerns, as reported by WKRN. The fire department received the call at around 8 a.m., and upon arrival, firefighters worked for several hours to put out the flames. Two hotel guests suffered from the ordeal and were transported to a hospital, and a staff member received treatment at the scene.
The extent of the damage to the Granite City establishment was significant, but the swift action of the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading into the inn. Franklin Fire Department, along with several neighboring agencies including Brentwood Fire Department and Williamson County EMS, coordinated the response, detailed by FOX17. The event stirred the local community and underscore the importance of rapid emergency services.
In a separate incident on the same day, Nashville law enforcement is on the search for a woman involved in a road rage encounter that escalated to gunfire. A 12-year-old girl was wounded when a dispute between her father and the suspect, driving a silver minivan, culminated in shots fired. According to NewsChannel5, the victim's family was en route to their short-term rental accommodation when the altercation occurred. Police are now scouring additional surveillance footage from the area to gather more details about the suspect.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the violent road rage incident or the suspect's silver minivan to come forward. The woman has been described as a heavyset Black individual who was wearing a white sports bra during the incident. Witnesses or anyone with relevant details are encouraged to share their knowledge with Nashville Crime Stoppers, with the possibility of remaining anonymous and qualifying for a cash reward. The gravity of the event is not lost on the community, still reeling from the unexpected fire at the hotel but also shaken by the violent altercation on their roads.
