A man wanted on serious charges of rape and child molestation in Indiana has been apprehended in North Carolina, according to a recent social media post by FBI - Charlotte. Marvin Jose Vasquez-Martinez, a 19-year-old Honduran national who was unlawfully in the U.S., was arrested through the collaborative efforts of various federal and local law enforcement agencies including the FBI Charlotte, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations Charlotte, U.S. Secret Service Charlotte, and the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest operation was aided by FBI Indianapolis, which, wanted for multiple felony crimes in Hendricks County, Indiana, employed technical surveillance to help locate Vasquez-Martinez after he fled the Brownsburg area in or around May. His apprehension exemplifies the extensive network connections and resources law enforcement can marshal when pursuing individuals accused of such grave offenses.
Vasquez-Martinez has had prior encounters with law enforcement, with a criminal history detailing past arrests for auto theft, resisting law enforcement, and possession of marijuana. These arrests add to the weight of his present criminal accusations and complicate his legal circumstances significantly.
Currently, Vasquez-Martinez is being held in North Carolina, where agencies caught up with the fugitive, pending extradition back to Indiana to face his charges.
