A skydiving event for charity turned tragic in Brevard County over the weekend when a 58-year-old Georgia man died following a hard landing. The accident occurred on Saturday near the Crowne Plaza Melbourne-Oceanfront hotel along State Road A1A. According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the man, whose name has yet to be released, took part in the event and made a hard landing around 5:15 p.m. ClickOrlando reported the incident on its website.
First responders were dispatched swiftly to the scene. Initially, the Melbourne Police Department received the call, and upon arrival, they found the injured man. Realizing the severity of the situation, they requested assistance from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
The man was rapidly transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained during the landing. As reported by WESH, details on what led to the hard landing are presently not disclosed to the public.
