A 23-year-old man, identified as Alford Davis, has been handed a 15-year prison sentence on Monday for his involvement in a brazen armed robbery that occurred in broad daylight in North St. Louis. According to the Circuit Attorney's Office, Davis pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and armed criminal action last Thursday, which was reflected in his sentence—12 years for the robbery charge and an additional 3 years for armed criminal action, set to be served one after the other.

The robbery in question unspooled on March 5, 2024, as captured by surveillance and doorbell cameras. The footage revealed Davis initially approaching the victim inside a BP gas station located on the 5000 block of West Florissant in the O'Fallon neighborhood, offering marijuana, which the victim declined. Moments later, Davis was seen driving a black Pontiac, pulling up to the victim on the street, and allowing two armed accomplices to quickly exit the vehicle and proceed to rob the victim at gunpoint. "Driving two armed gunmen to rob someone in broad daylight is a serious type of crime that undermines our community’s sense of security, and this conviction ensures accountability," Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore remarked in a statement obtained by the Circuit Attorney’s Office.

Following his arrest, Davis confessed to coordinating the high-stakes robbery. His criminal record includes two prior burglary convictions from 2018. At the time he committed the daylight robbery, he was still under probation for his past offenses. This background played a role in the severity of the sentencing this week.

Assistant Circuit Attorneys Grant Simon and Aradhana Polley were responsible for prosecuting the case. Their efforts are part of greater initiatives by the Circuit Attorney's Office to aggressively prosecute violent crime and work to improve public safety across all St. Louis neighborhoods. "We will continue to aggressively prosecute violent crime to enhance public safety in every St. Louis neighborhood," Gore pledged.
