
An incident unfolded at the Chicora Civil War Cemetery in Harnett County where 57-year-old Ambrose Lloyd Owens II died due to electrocution, officials reported. CBS17 detailed that the Harnett County Sheriff's Office responded to a distress call yesterday morning, discovering Owens' body, who appeared to be lifeless while handling an amateur radio antenna.
The location, known for its historical significance, became the site of a fatal incident when Owens was attempting to install an antenna and it made contact with a nearby power line. The sheriff’s office reported the death as accidental and stated that no foul play is suspected, as reported by ABC11.
Additional details from WRAL state that the 911 call reporting the incident came in around 8:45 a.m., describing a man found unconscious in the parking lot at 3467 North Carolina Highway 82 in Dunn, near the Averasboro Battlefield and Museum. It remains unclear why Owens was at the location. The sheriff’s office and Erwin Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
