The location, known for its historical significance, became the site of a fatal incident when Owens was attempting to install an antenna and it made contact with a nearby power line. The sheriff’s office reported the death as accidental and stated that no foul play is suspected, as reported by ABC11.
Additional details from WRAL state that the 911 call reporting the incident came in around 8:45 a.m., describing a man found unconscious in the parking lot at 3467 North Carolina Highway 82 in Dunn, near the Averasboro Battlefield and Museum.
