Efforts by local authorities have led to swift action in a child abuse case that surfaced in Harris County earlier this week. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office were called to a residence on the 900 block of Doubletree Glen on July 14, which resulted in the discovery of a nine-year-old who had been assaulted. According to the Precinct 4 Facebook page, deputies quickly assessed the situation and promptly involved a detective from the Special Victims Unit (SVU) in the investigation. The detective concluded that the child was victimized by Damian Colbert—a man with previous assault offenses.
Detective work led to the arrest of Colbert, who faced immediate charges of Injury to a Child and had a bond set at $10,000 by the 176th District Court. The Constable's Office emphasized their commitment when Constable Mark Herman stated, "This agency commits all possible resources to protect the most vulnerable members of our community and to hold those who harm them accountable."
The precinct's dedication to safeguarding the community can be followed through their active communication channels.
