In a disturbing turn of events from Harris County, a 24-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his own mother, after what was initially treated as an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon escalated to a tragic fatality. According to court documents, ABC13 reports that Robert Babin stands accused of attacking his 61-year-old mother, Lisa Babin, with a hammer on June 11, subsequently leading to her death from sustained injuries.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office became aware of the situation after a friend of Babin was alerted to the attack through a gaming app message from Babin himself, claiming he had "just hit his mother." On June 11, upon being contacted by this friend, deputies arrived at the Babins' residence in the 18700 block of Holly Way to find Lisa Babin critically wounded and unresponsive in the backyard. She was airlifted to a nearby hospital but succumbed to the injuries she suffered from multiple hammer blows to the head.
