As Bostonians enjoy a respite from the sweltering heat, the city faces a day marred by hazy skies. According to a forecast by the National Weather Service, widespread haze is expected between 8am and noon today, accompanied by areas of smoke during the same hours. The sunlight may struggle to pierce the smoky veil, but temperatures are forecasted to reach a comfortable high of around 81 degrees, with a gentle north wind shifting east in the afternoon.
This evening presents partly cloudy skies with a low around 66 and southwest winds breezing at approximately 6 mph. However, the tranquility might be short-lived. The forecast anticipates a transition on Sunday, with a chance of showers before 2pm, followed by a likelihood of showers and thunderstorms later in the day. The chance of precipitation sits at 60%, and with it the potential for new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, potentially greater in thunderstorms areas.
NBC Boston's weather report echoes these predictions. "Sunshine will be shrouded by hazy smoke moving high overhead," the report reads. It also notes the onset of sea breezes along the coast, shaping the city's climate to settle for highs in the upper 70s to low 80s this afternoon. The report promises a "comfortable" evening before the clouds take over, concluding with the swift advance of showers by the following morning.
Looking ahead to early next week, Boston can anticipate a spike in temperatures. The National Weather Service forecasts a sunny Monday with a high near 88, and the heat intensifying on Tuesday, with temperatures soaring near a sizzling 95 degrees. The nights will remain relatively warm, hovering in the low 70s, while the days bask undisturbed under the sun's glare.
However, the clear, starry sky conditions are not to last, with meteorologists predicting a chance of showers after 2am come Wednesday night. Chances of rain persist through to the end of the week, with 30% chance of precipitation accompanying party sunny days and mostly cloudy nights. Bostonians can expect highs around 77 to 80 degrees throughout the week, welcoming what looks to be the tail-end of a typically dynamic New England weather pattern.
