
The Henderson Police Department has extended the deadline to apply for its Citizens Academy. Applications will now be accepted until August 5, according to the City of Hendersonon. The program gives residents and workers a chance to learn more about how the police department operates.
The Henderson Police Department will hold its Citizens Academy from August 19 to November 4. The 12‑week program will take place each Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and cover topics including use of force, domestic violence, crime scene investigation, radio communication, and gang enforcement. The academy is designed to give participants a closer look at the work of law enforcement, as reported by the City of Henderson.
The Henderson Police Department requires Citizens Academy applicants to be at least 18 years old, live or work in Henderson, and have no felony, gross misdemeanor, or misdemeanor convictions. The department, which holds the academy twice a year, has extended the application deadline and noted that space is limited.
