Law enforcement in Holmes County made a substantial drug bust earlier this month when deputies discovered nearly one pound of suspected methamphetamine during a routine traffic stop, as reported by Cleveland19. The stop, conducted by Deputy Christian Wertz and his K9 partner, Axel, initially targeted a driver on Township Road 323 near County Road 320 in Prairie Township for following too closely and crossing the center line.
The Holmes County Sheriff's Office detailed the encounter on their Facebook page, stating that the K9's alert for the presence of narcotics resulted in the search which uncovered not only the drugs but also drug paraphernalia, deputies reported the arrests of Riley M. Flinner, 20, of Holmesville and Cory A. Baker, 32, of Millersburg, with drug trafficking charges now binding them to the confines of the Holmes County Jail.
Both individuals, Flinner and Baker, are currently being held for their alleged participation in the drug trafficking incident, according to The Daily Record. The traffic stop, which occurred last Friday at approximately 5:58 p.m., has prompted the Holmes County Prosecutor’s Office to consider additional charges pending a more thorough investigation.
With the significant quantity of suspected meth seized during this stop, Holmes County Sheriff Tim Zimmerly underscores the interaction as a clear indication of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking within the community, the deputies involved in this case, with K9 Axel by their side, showcase an unwavering commitment to stemming the tide of narcotics that threaten the fabric of quiet towns such as Holmesville and Millersburg, reinforcing the message that law enforcement remains vigilant.
