Residents and visitors in Honolulu can expect a minor reprieve from the usual moderate trade winds in the coming days, with a slight ease before they pick back up next Tuesday or Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service's latest forecast, shower activities will remain largely concentrated over windward areas until Saturday. However, except for a few afternoon showers on the South Kona slopes, most leeward areas should stay dry.

The National Weather Service reports that with weakening trade winds, mostly VFR (Visual Flight Rules) conditions are expected across the Hawaiian Islands. However, isolated showers may cause brief mountain obscurations tonight. AIRMET Tango, currently in effect for moderate low-level turbulence, is anticipated to be canceled later this afternoon as wind speeds continue to decrease.

The Small Craft Advisory for Maui County and the Big Island has been lifted as winds ease across the region. The National Weather Service expects gentle to fresh trade winds through the weekend due to a weakening high-pressure ridge. A modest south to southwest swell will continue to affect southern shores, potentially sustained by disturbances located south of the islands.

Fire danger remains low through Saturday due to stable and dry weather conditions, according to the National Weather Service. An increase in humidity from a shallow moisture influx arriving from the east late Saturday into Monday may further reduce fire risk. However, strengthening trade winds expected next week could increase fire weather concerns once again.

Currently, there are no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect. However, afternoon peak high tide cycles have been running about half a foot higher around Maui County and the Big Island, which has extended a Coastal Flood Statement through Friday afternoon. Minor shoreline flooding may persist, but water levels are expected to subside below concerning thresholds by the weekend.
