The National Weather Service in Honolulu reports that a high-pressure system north of the Hawaiian Islands will maintain moderate to locally breezy trade winds through the weekend. A disturbance earlier today increased showers in windward and mountain areas, but conditions are expected to become more stable later in the day, as reported by the National Weather Service.

Showers are expected to decrease as high pressure builds, with "as high pressure will keep a subsidence cap on vertical cloud development," according to the National Weather Service. Weather conditions will stay mostly steady through the weekend, with a slight increase in overnight and early morning showers in windward areas due to another upper-level disturbance. For aviation, steady easterly trade winds will continue. Some windward areas may see brief MVFR conditions this morning, but overall cloud cover and rainfall are expected to lessen after the disturbance passes.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect "until 6 PM HST Wednesday for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel, Big Island Leeward Waters, Big Island Southeast Waters," due to strong trade winds. South shore waves may increase slightly from incoming swells. East-facing shores will remain rough, and north-facing shore swells are expected to decrease by Wednesday. Showers are likely early in the week, with drier conditions expected before another increase in showers from Friday afternoon as an upper-level disturbance approaches, as stated by the National Weather Service.
