Yesterday's encounter between a suspect and federal agents had deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office scrambling to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on a call that quickly escalated. The incident occurred in the 5300 block of FM 1960 Rd E, as reported by the Constable's Facebook page. Sergio Olivares, the suspect who now faces charges, allegedly confronted ICE agents, leading to property damage and a hazardous chase.
Upon arrival, the deputies found that Olivares had inflicted damage to an ICE vehicle by breaking a side mirror, and then proceeded to recklessly chase the agents down the road. His actions purported to not only put the federal agents in danger but also compromised the safety of nearby motorists. The precise reasons behind Olivares’s actions have yet to be publicly articulated.
A prompt response from Constable Deputies successfully de-escalated the tense encounter. According to a statement from Constable Mark Herman’s official Facebook page, "Sergio Olivares was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Criminal Mischief. His bond was set at $500.00 out of County Court 16."
