Houston area deputies didn't have to look far to apprehend a suspected thief with a pile of warrants to his name. On July 2, officials responded to a call on the 3800 block of FM 2920 Road. The complaint: a vehicle theft.
While taking the report, deputies received word that the suspect had seemingly decided to casually return to the scene. In a turn of events as convenient as it was unexpected, the deputies were able quickly to detain and identify the suspect: Cedric Austin.
A deeper dive into Austin's background exposed a litany of legal woes. The suspect was found to have an outstanding Felony Warrant for Theft. Moreover, from the Bellaire Police Department, four open misdemeanor warrants called his name. He also had one misdemeanor warrant out of Webster Police Department, and not one, but two open misdemeanor warrants from University Place Police Department.
"Cedric Austin was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrants and charged with Theft. His bond was set at $2,500.00 out of the 184th District Court,” according to a statement from Constable Mark Herman posted on the Precinct 4 Facebook page.
