A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder that transpired on Wednesday evening at 4811 Bellfort Avenue. The suspect, identified as Daniel Tevante Comick, faces murder charges stemming from the incident which claimed the life of a 56-year-old man, whose name has yet to be released pending formal identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, as reported by the City of Houston’s news release.
The call to police arrived shortly after the incident at around 6 p.m., with HPD patrol officers, arriving at the scene to discover a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital but was ultimately pronounced dead by attending physicians. Following an investigation by the HPD Homicide Division, led by Detectives S. Chettry and H. Martinez, Comick emerged as the prime suspect.
In an interesting twist, Comick was located at an area hospital after having sustained what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to the same news release, officers from the Southeast Patrol Division's Crime Suppression Team detained Comick without further incident.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted post-investigation, leading to the formal charging and arrest of Comick in connection to the fatal shooting. Images of the suspect and further updates regarding the case have been disseminated as the proceedings against Daniel Tevante Comick continue in the 262nd State District Court.
