Tragedy struck a Houston neighborhood yesterday morning when a 75-year-old woman was found dead after a shooting that has left the community searching for answers and a 42-year-old woman in custody for questioning. The Houston Police Department confirmed via a post on what is known as X, that the incident occurred on the 4000 block of Griggs Road, as reported by ABC13.
Officers who responded to the scene at approximately 11:15 a.m. discovered the older woman on the stairs of an apartment complex; she was pronounced dead at the scene. The police then proceeded to an apartment linked to the staircase, where they found the younger woman, who is now being detained for questioning. As the investigation unfolds, the Houston Police Department has not yet determined the relationship between the two women or the motive behind the shooting, according to FOX 26 Houston.
The HPD has called upon residents and anyone with information to come forward and assist by contacting the HPD's Homicide Department at 713-308-3600. The streets around the crime scene were closed for most of the day as homicide investigators gathered evidence and tried to determine what led to the woman's death.
