The Honolulu Police Department is expanding its community programs for youth. One of these programs, the Police Activities League, recently held its first Police Activities League Judo Invitational. The department states these efforts are focused on supporting youth development alongside law enforcement, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The Honolulu Police Department’s Police Activities League held the first annual judo event to promote youth programs. "Youth recently hit the mats in the first annual PAL Judo Invitational." In addition, the department’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education Unit continues to educate students about the dangers of drugs and violence. "Officers are currently undergoing certification to be instructors to help guide students down a good path."
The Honolulu Police Department's Community Policing Teams are involved in school visits and local projects. “The department’s Community Policing Teams (CPT) regularly visit schools and lead community-based projects,” including a recent effort with Mililani High School students to restore a pedestrian tunnel near the campus.
