Attention drivers, if you're planning on hitting the I-10 between the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge and the Bayou Teche Bridge, it's time to brace for some slow-going as construction crews get down to business. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that from mile marker 117 to mile marker 108 on I-10 WB and EB there will be pavement marking moving operations that started on Tuesday, July 8, at 6:00 p.m. and wrapped up yesterday, July 9, at 6:00 a.m., assuming Mother Nature plays ball.
Here's the nitty-gritty: marking the road isn't a one-lane-at-a-time affair, the crews will be working their magic across multiple travel lanes but fear not, they'll stick to messing with just one lane at a time to keep the traffic nightmare to a minimum, still, drivers should be on the lookout for crew members and their hefty equipment as they navigate this stretch. Emergency services, while they'll have a clear path cut through the work zone, might still be hitting red on the delay-o-meter.
No detour plans have been set since it seems like the work can be handled without rerouting the masses. DOTD, in a bid to keep the road rage at bay, sends out its thanks in advance and urges drivers to amp up the caution—extreme is the word they used—and stay eagle-eyed for the onsite workers doing their thing through this zone.
