The Illinois Commission on Equity and Inclusion (CEI) is rolling up its sleeves for the 2025 Illinois State Fair, sprouting its efforts into Springfield from August 7–17. For business owners and entrepreneurs with a heart for diversity and inclusion, the CEI's attendance might just be the cherry on top of their fair experience. Attendees can expect a trove of resources ranging from the Business Enterprise Program (BEP) and Veterans Business Program (VBP) resources to business development tools meant to spike supplier diversity in state procurement.
According to details from an official announcement, fairgoers can find the CEI camped out at the Senior Center on August 10th and 11th, where they will get firsthand knowledge on upcoming initiative,s privacy-invading swag galore, and the chance to converse about the layers of certification with the State of Illinois. The Commission shares more than just informational nuggets—it's also slotted to pair up with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHR) come August 13th.
"CEI's mission is to maximize supplier diversity, equity, and inclusion by ensuring access to contracting opportunities by developing procedures and initiatives that make the procurement process inclusive, fair, and equitable while providing support, education, and mentorship," said Alexandria Wilson, JD, CPPB, the Executive Director of CEI, pointing to the body's transformative aspirations, "Our vision is to be a transformational leader in fostering an equitable and inclusive procurement environment where supplier diversity, equity, and inclusion are promoted and protected for the economic growth of underserved businesses in Illinois."
The fair isn't just a hub for fun and festivities, but also a crossroads where residents and business owners from every corner of the state and beyond can hobnob under the banner of what makes Illinois tick with its history rooted in diversity and innovation, and it's this very fabric of community and commerce that the CEI seeks to strengthen. All are welcome to make a pitstop at the CEI booth—a gesture that reiterates Illinois's embrace of richer connectivity among its people.
