A late-night altercation involving a group of teenagers on Houston's southwest side escalated into gun violence, resulting in an innocent passerby being shot multiple times. This incident occurred just before 10 p.m. near the intersection of Bellaire Boulevard and Wilcrest, according to KHOU.
The Houston Police Department reports that the victim, a man in his 50s, was inadvertently caught in the crossfire while trying to flee and subsequently made his way to a gas station for assistance. On arrival, the man was found with multiple gunshot wounds but retained enough strength to seek help. He was hospitalized with life-saving measures in place, including a tourniquet, and is expected to survive the ordeal. The violent encounter began when a group of teenagers was reportedly making threats outside a home where a fellow teenager and his mother were taking shelter, the gunshots breaking the night soon after, as mentioned by ABC13.
The assailants, believed to be around 16 years of age by police, fled the scene and remain at large. Houston police are actively working the case, hoping to bring the responsible parties to justice. The public has been urged to come forward with any information that might aid in the capture and arrest of these individuals.
