An investigation is underway in Queens, where a body was discovered in a state of advanced decomposition inside a van yesterday afternoon. According to a report by ABC7NY, the body was found at 59-21 Calloway Street in Corona just before 3:30 p.m.
The scene was attended by EMS, who pronounced the individual dead upon their arrival. The identity of the deceased, at the scene, was not immediately noticeable due the body's condition. The Medical Examiner has been tasked with determining the cause of death.
Further information from AMNY reveals that the body was located inside a parked white van, by officers of the 110th Precinct. The call that led them to the grim discovery originated from a location next to a spa and a parking lot.
Police sources identified the deceased as an unidentified man who appeared to have been living in the vehicle prior to his death. While no initial signs of foul play were observed, and the death is not currently considered suspicious, the investigation remains ongoing. Further details are expected following the Medical Examiner’s autopsy.
