The Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division is actively investigating the circumstances that led to the deadly encounter at 3800 Dunvale Road, which happened shortly before 9 p.m., according to the City of Houston News.
The collision involved a white Dodge Challenger, driven by a 28-year-old male heading southbound, and a bicyclist who was going against traffic, northbound in the southbound lanes. The aftermath of the crash was grim; the bicyclist was ejected from his ride and later pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim's identity remains unconfirmed, as the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has yet to complete verification.
As noted by the City of Houston News, "The male driver, 28, of the Challenger remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released," indicating cooperation with the authorities' investigation into the crash.
