A late Saturday night blaze in Elkton has caught the attention of Maryland investigators after a house on Telegraph Road went up in flames. As reported by FOX Baltimore, the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire that damaged a two-story single-family dwelling at 5800 Telegraph Road. The fire caused approximately $1,000 in damages, a figure that belies the potential for tragedy in such an incident.
The Singerly Fire Company dispatched 40 firefighters to the scene, and it took roughly three hours to bring the fire under control. The home did not have smoke alarms or a fire sprinkler system, which officials emphasized could have been crucial in preventing the fire's spread. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, though the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
WMAR 2 News added that investigators are seeking information about a car observed leaving the home shortly before the fire broke out. This detail could provide a pivotal lead to understanding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal urges anyone who might have information related to this event to come forward. Individuals with knowledge about the case can contact the NERO Tipline at 410-386-3050.
