
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detailed the arrest of a man in connection to a fatal shooting at a local restaurant parking lot. In the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office social media post, they announced that 24-year-old Josiah Martinez has been taken into custody, charged with the murder of 38-year-old Kenneth Mobley Jr. who was fatally shot in the chest.
According to the Sheriff's Office, District 3 patrol officers responded to the incident which occurred on Southside Boulevard on June 11; Mobley was found injured and later succumbed to his wounds at the hospital, the victim, a father of unknown number of children, was about to commemorate his 39th birthday when his life was abruptly ended. Investigators engaged witnesses and sifted through evidence to identify Martinez as the suspected gunman.
The Homicide Unit detectives, working diligently, secured an arrest warrant by Friday last week, and with the help of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, executed the arrest on the following Monday, ensuring Martinez faced the legal repercussions of his actions. Martinez is now being held at the Duval County jail.
Moreover, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office committed to collaborating with the State Attorney's Office to pursue justice; Martinez's detainment and subsequent jailing is not the conclusion but a mere commencement of a prolonged judicial travail designated to bring closure and a sense of justice to Mobley's bereaved family and friends they've stated, "We’ll work closely with our partners at the State Attorney’s Office to ensure justice is served for Mr. Mobley’s loved ones."
