This July, Parks and Recreation in Duval County is where the communal spirit takes a tangible shape, as the local administration known as JaxParks gears up to celebrate Park and Recreation Month. Taking a cue from the National Recreation and Park Association's annual initiative, this celebration is an open invitation for the community to come together and share their parks and recreation stories on social media using the hashtags #BuildTogetherPlayTogether and #ParkAndRecreationMonth. The announcement was made by the City of Jacksonville's official website.
JaxParks is determined to fully showcase just how central parks and recreation are to forging a stronger, more vibrant Duval County. In an attempt to actively engage residents of all ages and abilities, a variety of activities have been scheduled throughout the month. The lineup includes fitness and dance classes facilitated by partnering organizations, an event dubbed Art in the Park, and an inviting Jazz at the Fountain evening. One can also expect to rhythmically groove in silence at the Silent Disco at Friendship Fountain, or to contribute to the environment in a post 4th of July volunteer cleanup at Hanna Park, in collaboration with Timucuan Parks Foundation.
The celebrations also include pet-friendly events like 'Bark in the Park,' held in partnership with Animal Care and Protective Services. These activities help bring the community together through shared experiences in parks. They also encourage residents to take care of the environment and be active in their communities.
As part of the theme "Build Together, Play Together," JaxParks is offering events to bring the community together through shared activities. Duval County encourages residents to take part in these events and make use of local parks and public spaces.
