Marking the occasion, Clevenger is set to quickly begin to shape up the city's parks and recreation scene. A graduate of UNLV and the Santa Clara Leadership Academy, his career milestones are a testament to his ability to lead effectively and work collaboratively. Clevenger is celebrated for his innovative approach to providing inclusive and impactful recreational services that aim to enrich local communities. His past achievements include steering teams of upwards of 150 people and steering multimillion-dollar budgets and public projects proficiently. According to the City of Las Cruces, he began his position in mid-July.
Before taking on this new appointment, Clevenger earned hands-on experience that ranged from overseeing sports field allocations to maintaining parks as a Senior Park Maintenance Worker. His passion for community engagement also led him to co-own a competitive cheerleading gym that soared to national acclaim and snatched a second-place finish at a world tournament. This engagement with the physical and spirited aspects of recreation underscores Clevenger's commitment to nurturing spaces where people can both compete and connect.
Moreover, Clevenger's enthusiasm for recreation hasn't been confined to his professional endeavors.
