Maluhia Road will be closed on July 12 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a community clean-up ahead of the Kōloa Plantation Days celebration. The road connects Kaumuali‘i Highway to the Ala Kino‘iki junction. Drivers should use Kōloa Road instead during the closure, according to the County of Kauai.
The County of Kauai has announced that ‘Ōma‘o Road is not a suitable detour during the upcoming Maluhia Road closure. Officials cited the road’s narrow, residential layout and a strict 25 mph speed limit. Drivers are advised to plan for extra travel time due to the rerouting.
Electronic boards will be placed in key areas to inform drivers about a temporary road closure and detour routes for a clean-up event. The County of Kauai Roads Division and local volunteers will do maintenance work such as grass-cutting and shoulder repairs. The work is in preparation for Kōloa Plantation Days.
