Metal recycling drop-off services became available again on Monday. Residents can bring scrap metal and unused appliances to County Solid Waste Facilities. Guidelines are being enforced at all refuse transfer stations and the landfill, according to the County of Kauai.
The County of Kauai has announced the return of its recycling services with clear guidelines. Items must be free of fluids, batteries, and flammable materials. Refrigerators and freezers must be emptied of food and non-metal shelves. Items should not be larger than three feet. Residents are also asked to follow on-site instructions, including separating white goods from other scrap metal.
Businesses must take metal recyclables to the Puhi Metals Recycling Facility at 3951 Puhi Road and pay a fee. Residents can drop off non-commercial metal waste for free at County of Kauai facilities. For more information, call 808-241-4841 or visit the County of Kauai recycling website.
