
Two individuals have lost their lives following a shooting incident in a Kent apartment complex. According to KING5, the Kent Police Department has apprehended a 51-year-old local man with a significant criminal history in connection with the incident.
The shooting occurred on the night of July 14, around 8:30 p.m., near 22400 Benson Road Southeast. The victims were identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as 34-year-old Gary Lee Winston and 46-year-old Migna Elizabeth Kennebrew. Both were residents of Ken,t and according to their report, died of gunshot wounds in what has been ruled a homicide. This information was detailed in a report by the Kent Reporter.
Witnesses reported an argument that escalated to gunfire, leading to police discovering Winston outside an apartment and Kennebrew inside, as explained in a statement obtained by Kent Reporter from the Kent Police news release. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested two days later on unrelated charges, and the case will be reviewed for potential homicide charges.
The joint operation that led to the arrest included the efforts of the Snohomish County U.S. Marshals Task Force. As per the details shared by FOX13 Seattle, the arrest was made on Wednesday, around 2:30 p.m. in the Seattle area. Although currently held on unrelated charges, homicide charges are expected to be filed imminently.
No further information about the circumstances leading up to the shooting or potential motives has been released at this time. Kent Police have not revealed any additional details about the suspect's criminal history or the nature of the unrelated charges for which he was initially detained.
