In a pageant of community spirit, the 2025 Fun Fest parade is rolling into town, bringing a slew of road closures. The downtown area is gearing up for the annual extravaganza, necessitating temporary traffic rerouting.
Starting on Clinchfield Street, which is nestled beside the Kingsport Center for Higher Education, the parade is set to wind its way through Center Street and Sullivan Street before coming full circle back to its starting point. The city has laid out the plan, traffic cones are ready, and we need the parade-goers' excitement and some cooperative weather.
For those planning their day around the festivities, parts of Clinchfield from Market Street to Clay Street will be shuttered by 10 AM. It's better to plan ahead than to be caught in the tide of detoured traffic. As reported by the City of Kingsport's official website, "Clinchfield from Market Street to Clay Street will be closed by 10 a.m. on Friday to allow for parade lineup." Indeed, the city will begin its transformation in the early hours of the morning.
Late afternoon commuters, barricades will rise across all side streets leading into the Center between Clinchfield and Sullivan, and will get their closure starting at 4 PM sharp. But it doesn't end there; Center and Clinchfield will go quiet 30 minutes before the parade springs to life around 6 PM. The city has promised marked detour signs to guide locals and festival attendees through the altered cityscape. Once the last float has passed and the final band has played its tune, normalcy will return to the streets.
