A man from Kissimmee stands accused of grievous crimes against children, following a thorough investigation by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. According to ClickOrlando, Melvin Echevarria-Alvarez, 22, faces the weight of the law with 96 counts of possessing images depicting child sexual abuse, in addition to two counts associated with synthetic abuse material and two counts involving animal abuse content.
The initial probe that brought Echevarria-Alvarez into the gaze of law enforcement was sparked by a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children which then led the ICAC detectives to identify Echevarria-Alvarez as the suspect the Internet Crimes Against Children's unit landed on the 22-year-old's trail and after an arrest warrant was put out on Friday, they arrested and took him into custody, where he was subsequently interviewed leading to the uncovering of more damning evidence at his domicile, Positively Osceola details the ongoing situation.
Following the arrest, law enforcement conducted a search warrant at Echevarria-Alvarez's apartment, located in Vineland Landings, where they discovered the material in question. The subsequent seizure of considerable evidence paved the way for the nearly 100 criminal charges against him.
The bond for the first charge was set at zero, but the total of the other charges is nearly half a million dollars. After speaking with him at the Osceola County Jail, detectives got a search warrant and searched his home. What they found suggested even more serious criminal activity. As the investigation continues, the Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to come forward.
