The City of Knoxville will host the upcoming Neighborhood Resource Fair at the Jacob Building, inviting residents to explore a wide range of local resources and community services. Set for Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event will feature over 90 participants, including representatives from city and county departments, nonprofit organizations, and service providers. According to the city's announcement, Neighborhoods Coordinator Debbie Sharp described the fair as a “one-stop shop” for residents interested in addressing neighborhood concerns, enhancing their quality of life, supporting others, and making the most of living in Knoxville.
Open to the public at no cost, the resource fair is designed to both inform and engage attendees through live performances and activities for children. As noted in the announcement, individuals who register by Aug. 5 will be eligible for food vouchers and have a chance to win door prizes throughout the event, including tickets to Knoxville Smokies baseball games.
Several City departments, including Parks and Recreation, Codes Enforcement, and the Office of Community Safety and Empowerment, will be present at the event. Organizations such as Centro Hispano, Goodwill Industries, and the League of Women Voters will also participate. Additionally, Knoxville Area Transit and KUB will be on site to offer information about local transportation and utility services.
Several groups are scheduled to perform during the event, including Karate Five and Urban Expressions, who will present live demonstrations. Other performers, such as RYDE Dance and Drums Up Guns Down, are also listed on the program.
