The incident, which occurred on Friday night around 7:15 p.m., prompted several 911 callers to report a fire at a duplex located in the 1700 block of Cody Street, as confirmed by both the Lakewood Police Department (LPD) and West Metro Fire Rescue (WMFR).

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters were met with heavy smoke billowing from the front room of the property, which, when they entered the home they discovered a woman's body and while no other injuries have been reported in the incident, the LPD noted that there is no present threat to the public, according to KKTV. The identity of the woman remains withheld pending notification of next of kin and the conclusion of an autopsy by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
