The incident occurred near the intersection of 124th Street and Mona Boulevard, where a suspect wanted for reckless driving was being chased by the police before an unrelated motorist collided with the patrol car at around 9:30 p.m. KTLA reported that the police vehicle sustained significant damage and footage from the scene suggested the impact was severe enough to push the cruiser across the intersection and into opposing traffic lanes.
