The Las Vegas Aces acquired forward NaLyssa Smith from the Dallas Wings in exchange for their 2027 first-round draft pick. Smith, a 6-foot-4 forward and 2022 WNBA All-Rookie selection, has averaged 12.0 points and 7.5 rebounds with a 45.5% shooting rate over four seasons, according to Aces.
To make room for Smith's arrival, the Aces waived Tiffany Mitchell and Liz Kitley. Mitchell averaged 3.7 points in 16 games this season, while Kitley posted 1.3 points and 1.4 rebounds over 12 games.
Smith’s departure from the Dallas Wings came unexpectedly, with her posting on social media, “Sick to my stomach, dawg, never seen this coming…” She added that if a trade had to happen, she would choose Las Vegas as her preferred destination, as mentioned by CBS News Texas. To offset the trade, Dallas released guard Kaila Charles, who had been on a hardship contract since June 17. The Wings currently have a 5-13 record and are at the bottom of the Western Conference. Smith had previously expressed interest in playing for Dallas alongside rookie Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale.
