
A bicyclist who was critically injured in a collision with a transit bus on July 14 has died. The incident occurred on S. Maryland Parkway north of E. Katie Ave and marks the 97th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction in 2025.
A 61-year-old bicyclist died after a collision with a transit bus in Las Vegas. The crash happened around 3:12 p.m. in an inactive construction zone marked with large orange cones. Police said the bicyclist was riding inside the coned-off area when they moved into the traffic lane and struck the bus, which was driven by 46-year-old Dajuan Smith. The bicyclist was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition and later died. The Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death on Tuesday, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The cyclist’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Police said the bus driver was not injured. The Collision Investigation Section continues to examine the circumstances of the incident, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
