
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own, Sgt. Justin Williams, who succumbed to leukemia shortly after an emergency surgery on Tuesday. Williams, having been recently diagnosed with the disease, was a dedicated member of the department's VICE section. "Sgt. Williams was a valued member of our department, and most recently served in our VICE section. Known for his sharp instincts and professionalism, he also brought warmth, kindness, and leadership to every assignment. He was deeply respected and truly beloved by all who knew him," as reported by KTNV.
On Wednesday, Sgt. Justin Williams was escorted from Sunrise Hospital to Palm Mortuary in Downtown Las Vegas in a procession of family and fellow officers. He passed away from leukemia after undergoing emergency surgery on Tuesday. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said on social media, “We will miss you, Justin, more than words can say,” and “Thank you, Justin, for your compassion and caring for this community,” as stated by 8 News Now.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced they will continue Sgt. Williams’s legacy following his passing. According to 8 News Now, the department concluded their tribute with the statement: “We have the watch for here.”
