Delaware State Police have reportedly taken into custody a 22-year-old Laurel man, identified as Donsha Sturgis, in connection with a spate of thefts in eastern Sussex County. According to a report released by the Delaware State Police, the arrest followed investigations into several thefts from unsecured vehicles across multiple communities between June 10 and June 17.
The thefts occurred at night, and among the neighborhoods targeted were Autumn Oaks, Overbrook Shores, Vincent Overlook in Milton, Eagle Run in Lincoln, and Edgewater Estates in Lewes. A silver Chevy Cruz was pinpointed as the suspect vehicle through the course of the investigation, which led detectives to subsequently identify Sturgis as a suspect. The arrest was made after detectives executed a search warrant at a residence located on the 2800 block of Daniel Street in Laurel.
Charges levied against Sturgis include three counts of Theft Under $1,500 Where a Victim is 62 Years of Age or Older, a felony charge, along with second-degree Conspiracy, five counts of Theft Under $1,500, and 11 counts of Criminal Trespass in the third degree. Post-arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2, Sturgis was released on his own recognizance.
Efforts to apprehend other individuals potentially involved in the thefts are ongoing, and authorities have encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
