Interested in safeguarding your wallet from the digital banditry of the 21st century? Alderman Peter Burgelis is hosting an in-District Office Hours today, July 8, starting at 5 p.m. at Zablocki Library with a special focus on consumer protection. This encounter offers a prime opportunity for local residents to discuss pressing community issues and to arm themselves with knowledge against fraud.
The meet-up will see a special presentation from the Bureau of Consumer Protection. These folks are the sentinels at the gates of commerce, delivering the low-down on Wisconsin's consumer laws and the cunning methods of scammers. Their presentation is designed to shine a light on the shadowy tactics of modern swindlers and lay down strategies for identity theft prevention. "I encourage residents to come out to tomorrow’s office hours to chat about local issues and learn more about protecting themselves from scams and fraud," Alderman Burgelis said. "As technology has advanced, so too has people’s ability to create sophisticated ways to swindle."
