Flagstaff locals can expect their water services to continue flowing smoothly as the city welcomes Lee Williams into the key role of Water Services Director. A seasoned veteran with the city, Williams brings over a decade's worth of experience to the table, having previously acted as the Water Operations Section Director within the same department. According to a recent City of Flagstaff announcement, his background includes various roles from an Operations Supervisor to Plant Operator, with a stint as an educator and some time in private industry under his belt.
In a thorough selection process vetted through multiple panels and community engagement, Shannon Anderson, Senior Deputy City Manager, expressed satisfaction with Williams' appointment, despite the tough competition. "We had two excellent candidates for this very important position," she elaborated, celebrating the final decision. Williams, who holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry & mathematics and multiple certifications in water management, is geared to take on the responsibilities required of him, according to the City of Flagstaff leadership.
City Manager Greg Clifton touted the depth of technical skills Williams possesses, complemented by an aptitude for swift learning. "His leadership style and calm demeanor will lend itself well to the Water Services team and to the organization as a whole," Clifton said, congratulating Williams, as stated by the City of Flagstaff.
Deeply rooted in Flagstaff's community with his own family and as a Northern Arizona University alumnus, Williams acknowledges the innovative strides the city has made in water use and sees his role as paramount to shepherd these efforts into the future. "Flagstaff has been successful in adopting innovative approaches in water use, reuse, and treatment and is in a unique position to continue embracing innovation into the future," Williams reflected, signaling his anticipation for continued advancement in the stewardship of the city’s essential resources, as per the City of Flagstaff.
